Exchange
If you are a student at a foreign university that has a bilateral exchange agreement with UC Chile and you wish to apply to take courses for one or two semesters, you can find details on this page about how to apply for the Exchange program at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
Application requirements
- International students must have a good command of the Spanish language. Those who are not native Spanish speakers must meet the B2 level language requirement (according to CEFR) accredited (present DELE, SIELE certificate or letter from the Spanish department of the home university certifying B2 level)*.
*In duly justified exceptions, students who certify a CEFR B1 Spanish level may apply as long as they mandatorily enroll in the B2 Spanish course at UC Chile. This course has a preferential cost for exchange and double degree students. Registration is done along with acceptance to the mobility program. - The minimum grade point average must be equivalent to a 3.0 GPA.
- Be a regular student at a university with an agreement with UC | Chile. You must verify this information with your home university and complete their internal application processes.
- Students must be nominated by their home university for their application to be considered; the nomination letter template is available in Spanish and English.

Restricted areas of study
- Music: Only for theoretical courses.
- Health Sciences: Medicine offers a Clinical Rotation Program; for details, please write to ico.med@uc.cl. Additionally, Medicine has a limited number of semester courses; reference data can be found in the general course list at this link. Dentistry is closed for exchange; Nursing is only for specific agreements; Health Sciences (Nutrition, Speech Therapy, and Kinesiology): internships and clinical placements are closed, and exchange for regular courses is open but subject to authorization based on a prior evaluation of each candidate.
- Economic and Administrative Sciences: Courses are restricted only to applicants who meet the requirements for each course.
- Psychology Courses: Students in their second to fourth year of the degree may apply.
- Biological Sciences: Marine Biology courses are not open.
- Art Courses: Art courses are available to students coming from an art major. Students interested in enrolling in workshop or practical courses at the Faculty of Art should be aware that there is an extra cost related to the purchase of materials. The semester cost is approximately $100,000 to $150,000 (CLP) per course.
- Architecture: Year-long exchanges are not possible. Due to limited course capacity, the School of Architecture offers a limited number of semester spots, which are competitive among all students interested in an exchange in this area. The School conducts a selection process based on the candidate's academic record and portfolio. Applicants must attach summarized portfolios of 2 letter-sized pages (four sides) in PDF format. The courses available to students will only be: Project Workshop (1st-3rd year Training / 4th and 5th year Practice). Core courses (unrestricted) and elective courses – OPR (maximum of 2). Courses not open to exchange students include: Degree Studios (Final Degree Project), Research Workshop, Construction Practice, and Professional Internship. Some Architecture courses require the purchase of materials, which must be acquired directly by the students. Spots are limited and cannot be guaranteed. The School of Architecture reserves the right of admission.
- Sports Courses: Students must bring their own personal equipment to attend classes depending on the sport.
- Theater: Students interested in enrolling in practical subjects at the School of Theater must attach a video of themselves performing a scene and a monologue in Spanish.
