Integrated Mobility System / SIM

It aims to improve the efficiency and integration of global mobility processes for students, academics, and staff coming to the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and for the UC community going abroad.

The automation of the system will allow real-time notifications regarding user requests, likewise, it will reduce the amount of manual work required, making the process faster and simpler.

It will allow managing all types of mobility requests in one place, with an intuitive interface. The system will provide clear communication flows for all people involved in exchange programs, internships and placements, along with academic and professional competitions.

Path to SIM

During this year, the Global Mobility Office declares, as part of its renewal project and through a collaborative diagnostic process with other units and key actors of the university, the need to strengthen the old management system where exchange processes are registered and carried out.

  • Collection of background information for the development of a system that responds to the needs of transversal, inclusive, environmentally friendly, and diverse global mobility.
  • Preliminary assessment of management and information processes for a new system.
  • Realization of the Inter-faculty Initiatives and Projects Committee (academic, students, and staff).
  • Evaluation of technological solutions that respond to the needs identified in the diagnosis.
  • Dimensioning and budgetary analysis of the solution.
  • Search for professional teams and external providers.
  • During March, the project work team is initiated and established.
  • Definition of system workflows.
  • Modeling of the solution’s architecture and databases.
  • Development of system modules.
  • Institutional Change Management diagnosis.
  • Definition of system sponsors.
  • Construction of image, name, and graphic standards. For the first time, this project is referred to as the Integrated System for Global Mobility / SIM.

  • Enabling the test environment for SIM (release environment).
  • Design of training and dissemination activities.
  • Corrections and improvements of SIM modules.
  • Presentation of the SIM project and progress to the Honorable Superior Council and relevant actors from the involved units.
  • Design of user manuals in English and Spanish.
  • Execution of functional and technical tests of SIM.
  • Execution of tests with users from participating units and external users.
