The four meetings will be held in conjunction with Tsinghua University, located in Beijing, and will cover topics such as the performing arts, folk expressions, myths, festivals, film, and television programs, among others. The first discussion will take place this Thursday, November 11, at 10:00 AM.
“Chile | China Global Conversations about Art and Culture” is the name of a series of four talks conducted in English that will bring together students from the Catholic University and Tsinghua University, located in Beijing. This initiative, organized by both institutions, aims to unite students from both countries so they can get to know each other and learn about each other’s cultures.
Framed within the Internationalization at Home program of the Deputy Vice-Rectorate for International Affairs, the cycle seeks to promote opportunities for global interaction within the campuses for the university community.
“The Chile-China Global Conversations is an initiative that invites the exchange of cultural experiences about both countries, allowing participants to converse and understand other realities through cross-cutting themes such as theater, music and film,” explains Florencia Roncone, Internationalization Coordinator at Casa.
On this occasion, undergraduate and graduate students from UC, together with their peers from Tsinghua University, will discuss topics of cultural expression from both countries, such as performing arts, popular expressions, myths, legends, festivals, theater, film, documentaries, and television programs, among others.
“We’ve designed this activity as a space for relaxation. It’s an invitation to talk, exchange ideas, and dare to participate in an event that blends academics with something more playful. It’s a great opportunity for those who want to practice English, or simply learn more about our cultures,” explains Cristian Fernández, a Master of Arts student.
Each discussion will take place on Thursdays at 10:00 AM (Chile), 9:00 PM (China), from November 11 to December 2, 2021, in a virtual format . The talks are aimed at undergraduate and graduate students, and participants can register according to their area of interest. Those interested in participating should register at the following link .
